Making our first day view at 2015 St. Clair County 4-H Fair. At fair a few students displayed a robot they named "Frank."
Frank navigated throughout a cardboard maze. After an overwhelming amount of interest we decided to push forward with the first 4-H robotics club
of its kind in the state of Michigan. St. Clair County 4-H Robotics Club formed in August 2015, we started with three
F.I.R.S.T. teams. We chose to go through F.I.R.S.T. robotics because we wanted to offer the best opportunities for
our students and we felt F.I.R.S.T. provided them for our students.
Those three teams all went on to have great seasons.
At St. Clair County 4-H Robotics Club we take the future and education of our students very serious. We believe that every student has a purpose they just need to find what they're good at. That theory has already been proven time and time again in this program. We take the time to know what the students want and then as a team we focus on how to get there. With all the work that we put into each student we ask them for a few things in return. We ask them to always stay positive and to look for a new angle. We don't want our students to ever look at a problem and think of limitations. We want them to look at a problem and see solutions.
P.I.P. is our way of achieving this new thinking into our students. P.I.P. stands for Passionate, Innovative and Productive. We believe that with these three skills our students can go far. When students have set goals and expectations it becomes easier for them to not only achieve them but to understand why we set goals. Making our students very aware of what is happening in the club and letting them decide the path of the club allows them to have sense of ownership and pride. A pride that cannot be shaken.
